Last week, Julie Hamilton spoke at the EPA’s Region 5 Office in Chicago during their annual Small Business EAP/SBO Training Committee Conference. The event brought together marketing representatives from state SBEAP and SBO programs, along with EPA and affiliate organizations from across the country.

The training event included a discussion of a variety of technical topics and overarching strategies to help attendees better meet the needs of small businesses in their states. As a part of that program, Julie delivered a keynote address entitled “Marketing with Impact: Making Every Customer Engagement Count.” During her talk, Julie discussed the shared challenges faced by all marketing teams regardless of industry and budget: Awareness, Perception, and Presence.

Following her speech, she led a panel discussion on stage with Dan Sowry, Assistant Chief, Ohio EPA, Division of Environmental and Financial Assistance; Jennifer Feyerherm, Environmental Assistance Coordinator, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; and Patrick Hoermann, SBEAP, King County Washington. They engaged in a lively discussion about connecting with customers and providing value through their service offerings of environmental assistance programs.
